Organised religion has always scared the pants off me...having said that though I have often sought sanctuary and tranquilty inside a church - of any denomination. Recently I have met a lady who is a staunch Born Again Christian and the interesting thing is that we both look at the world in similar ways. Our views on choosing and choice are not poles apart. She has her God and I have me and what is fun is the exchanging of ideas and the recognising of a soul mate in someone from whom I would normally have run a mile.
Long may I continue to remove my blinkers.

"the recognising of a soul mate in someone from whom I would normally have run a mile." Milena, I'm sure you are more aware of this fact than most people... in some way, you draw people into your circle of influence. Each person, whether you like them or not, has a gift or a lesson to teach you. One of the gifts you received from this woman was the gift of listening with open mind when you spoke to that woman, and you learned that, although you may be different in some ways, you are also alike in others. I hung out last Friday with a guy that works at my company, who entered my sphere of influence 3 weeks ago. He happens to be African American. There is nothing more to this, no dating, no romance... nothing. Just hanging out. The conversation did touch on the differences in our upbringing (PA. Dutch vs. African American), and I learned quite a bit. But, the conversation also touched on work, and the area that we live in, and other stuff. A quite enjoyable evening was had. However, I mentioned that I had gone out with this gentleman in a brief conversation with my Mom later this weekend, and the seven hammers of Hades dropped on my head. Man, I'm almost 30 years old, and I haven't seen my mom wig out so badly in years. All she could see was that the guy had been black... "Don't tell your Father... he'll go beserk." Ugh... what a mess. She didn't want to hear that there was no involvement whatsoever... "What will the people at work think?" Who cares... I had fun, and I made a new friend... move on. "Long may I continue to remove my blinkers. " Long may we all, Milena... long may we all. Rokclmr

Perhaps we learn more from those who do not appeal to us as in the very act of learning from them we also learn about ourselves.

"Perhaps we learn more from those who do not appeal to us as in the very act of learning from them we also learn about ourselves. " Yep... that would go to the mirror theory. You tend to reflect on people that which you are. With people you like, you see the beauty and wonder of yourself, and are happy to see it. With people who do not appeal to you, you tend to see the "uglies" in yourself. Would the goal then be to try to recongize the "uglies" for what they are, and then improve upon them? Hmmm.... Of course, it's all an illusion, anyway. So, the "uglies" may actually be the clouds in the way of the blue sky behind them. Just need to vaporize them, eh? If only it were that easy... ha. Talking and walking are two seperate things. Rokclmr

No need to vaporise the clouds ...they are just there no longer......if you try to vapourise them you are trying too hard..........just let them go.
And I agree..it is all an illusion.......but a pretty real one at that!
