Dear Richard Bach fans, Today I was working on a new and complete bibliography page of Richard Bach's books. And only when making it I realized that out of 18 books he has written, the site only has quotes from 5 of them! Since I don't even own most of Richard's books I decided that it may be best simply to ask you (his fans) to submit your favorite quotes, or whichever quotes you may have available so that I'd be able to add them to the site for many other fans to enjoy. So, if you wish to assist simply post the quotes here, just dont forget to mention which book the quote is from Thanks a lot for your contribution!

"Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you."
from Illusions Adventures of a reluctant messiah (Messiah's handbook)
BTW: Would it be OK to put quotes from Russian translated books here too?

This one, as well as all the other Reminders for the Advanced Soul are already available on the site. Here: www.geocities.com/rbsite2000/private/books/illusions_quotes.htmThere are plenty of quotes from Illusions, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, One and The Bridge Across Forever. It is Bach's other books that I have no quotes from. I'm sure that there are many Russian sites that have Bach's quotes, and this site is not Russian, so I've nothing to do with any other quotes but the original, English ones.

Running From Safety- Shop for security over happiness and we buy it at that price
- All we see of someone at any moment is a snapshot of their life, there in riches or poverty, in joy or despair. Snapshots don't show the million decisions that led to that moment.
- If it's never our fault, we can't take responsibility for it. If we can't take responsibility for it, we'll always be its victim.
- When we put up with any situation that we don't have to put up with, it's not because we're dumb. We put up with it because we want the lesson that only that situation can teach, and we want it more than freedom itself.
There's No Such Place As Far Away- Can miles truly separate us from friends? If we want to be with someone we love, aren't wealready there?
- You have no birthday because you have always lived; you were never born, and never will die. You are not the child of the people you call mother and father, but their fellow-adventurer on a bright journey to understand the things that are.
Nothing By Chance- Nothing happens by chance, my friend...No such thing as luck. A meaning behind every little thing, and such a meaning behind this. Part for you, part for me. may not see it all real clear right now, but we will, before long.
Out of My Mind- Sometimes the only way to win is to surrender
- Relax. Let go. It is not your mystery. You do not have to solve anything. What is, is. Your job: Be quiet. Your mission: Be still.

Hi, I am new to the website and pretty new to Bach's books as well but what little I have read has reverberated with where I find myself in life now and it has been kind of comforting to know that there are people out there who share or at least hold similar views.
Thanks Eric for starting and maintaining the website. I feel quite "at home" with the site and glad that I found it.
Anyway, I have a soft spot for quotes (sometimes they help pull me through bleak times), so I like to share my current favourites too:
From "There's No Such Place As Far Away"
the only things that matter are those made of truth and joy, and not of tim and glass.
Fly free and happy beyond birthdays and across forever, and we'll meet now and then when we wish, in the midst of the one celebration that never can end.

Illusions being my favorite Richard book so far (& it has been for well over 25 years here now), am offering one of my favorite quotes from it:
"It is easy to forget our times of knowing, to think they've been dreams or old miracles, one time. Nothing good is a miracle, nothing lovely is a dream."
There are some fantastic ones in Messiah's Handbook that this writer has read so far ... 5 in 8 days having my copy ... & out of respect for Richard & his publisher these incredible little lines of wisdom will be kept for the time being, as the publication is still very recent.
Warmest Regards,
~Dwayne~

To all:
Geez, quotes are one of my greatest happiness, and I got that from reading Illusions. I have been actively collecting quotes for the past 3-4 years because of said book. Why? Because they say succinctly those emotions which I most need to put into words.
My favorite quotes from Illusions:
1) "Don't be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends." -- (favorite because it was a very appropriate quote to describe the leaving the friend who Gifted me the interest in Bach, and therefore, Gifted me the knowledge that I define my own Path.)
2) "Every person, all the events of your life are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you. " (favorite because it gave me the realization that everyone, whether you like them or not, is there to gift you a teaching, an experience, or a simple smile.)
3) "You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true. You may have to work for it, however. " -- self explanitory for all.
4) "You teach best what you most need to learn." -- This reminds me that when I feel as though I have something I instruct mastered, there just might be more to learn.
And, forgive me, my notebooks aren't with me at the moment, but there are 2 more that I will most likely butcher in their repeating... but if you've read Illusions, you'll know which ones I mean:
5) "The bond that binds true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's lives. Rarely do members of the same family live under the same roof."
6) "We create our own environments." --(this quote goes on in a wonderful fashion, but I can't remember the rest of it clearly... but it states that we get exactly what we deserve in this life. Who can take credit for our successes/failures but us... someone, help me out here.. I just can't get the words to flow in my head this a.m.)
And, since we're on the subject of quotations, here's one that has guided me on my Red Path for 3 years now. Take it, and do with it what you will...
"I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch a promise. I choose to risk my significance, to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom, and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit." -- Dawna Martova
I could go on forever on quotes, but since my time is limited, I'll cease here for now.
Warmest Light, Laughter, and Smiles to all... Rokclmr

My favorite is "A cloud does not know why it moves in just such a direction and at such a speed, It feels an implusion... this is the place to go now. But the sky knows the reasons and the patterns behind all clouds, and you will know, too, when you lift yourself high enough to see beyond horizons." I have spent many years trying to understand how I can 'see beyond horizons'. But, mostly what is the horizon that I need to see behind. I have also wondered about the 'implusion'. Do you suppose you have to be physic to feel this implusion?

A wonderful quote from Mesiah's Handbook in Illusions, Michael. Am thinking that the "horizon" may well be the limitations we saddle our self with. And as following one's heart over one's head may indeed be a true psychic ability, yes: to sense this implusion may require some thing like being "psychic". This artist chooses to believe that natural psychic abilities exist in many, if not all, persons. The walls we raise to being truly honest & open with one another may well be the stumbling blocks which imhibits this natural ability, imo. The impulsions exist whether we are aware of them or not. We simply must not only be willing to receive the flow as well as listen for the little nudges in that which the poets call a heart in order to be able to benefit the most. Thanks ... ~Dwayne~
