I would have to say that my favorite is also Illusions. A very good friend gave me a copy of the book about ten years ago. I read it so many times that it fell apart. I've had dreams of Richard and Don, sitting by the fire, doing their best to choke down pan bread. The message is so clear that there are many unasked questions in this life and beyond. And if you're wise enough to ask the questions, you also need to be brave enough to hear the answers.

I think in todays world that I would reverse your statement and say that one has to be brave enough to ask the questions and wise enough to hear the answers. Maybe the statement requires the use of both words...One has to be wise/brave enough to ask the questions and also wise/brave to hear the answers. Hmmmm... yeah I like that better Welcome to the site! ;D

[glow=red,2,300]TEXT[/glow] How right you are, LL! Looking for answers is something very difficult. It's all a journey-from where we began to where we end. We can only hope that somewhere along the line, we become better souls than what we started from. BTW...thanks for the welcome.....

I like to think that an end is always a beginning...circular kind of? So, we seem to be beginning and ending at various levels. Kind of like RB's reference to the caterpillar and the butterfly, I guess thats what I'm getting at.

So how do I decide which is best - there are at least 3 me's in this decision.... There's the literary me who loves the flow and style of Bridge, there's the romantic me loving the erudite manner in which RB portrays men falling in love (*how* many times???), there's the frustrated flyer me who loves Stranger to the Ground, The gift of wings and all the other flying tales, there's the spiritual me excited by Illusions and One. Mark me down as a marshmallow eating racoon, wishing to share the firelight with RB under the wing of a plane. Take me Barn-storming through relationships and tax fraud.... Tell me There's No Such Place as Far Away. I've picked up RB's books for the past 25 years and I still want more........ I think my answer to the question which RB book do you like best is ... wrong question. I like all of them best - they're all by RB!!! ;D

I would have to say that at the time I read each book, I loved it the best!! I have read most of them more than once, realizing that at the time I needed some "brain tuning" in one area or another. The one I have read the most often by far ,however, is Illusions. I first found it (or it found me) at 12 like almost everyone else here. I have since read it too many times to mention, most recently last week. I have received it as a gift, and dearly love to give it as a gift. Never a new one though, I much prefer to give old, worn, loved copies, especially if I have read them. I can always tell a true friend, if they appreciate how much they mean to me if I give them a ratty old book!! I find myself sitting here wondering how many copies we have all shared!! ;D P.S. I love Bishops reply to this question!!

Where is it that you would have it take you? Looking for it to take you "somewhere" defeats its purpose...you are already exactly where you need to be. LL

I'll be out for about 3 months, as of right now. Depends on what happens...could be 3 years if it feels right. Nothing is set in stone.

As I said before...no laptops for me ;D. Too many mountains to climb, canyons to explore, deserts to traverse and stars to see in the pitch of night. Too many parts of me out there to meet.....Too much fun! to have! ;D ;D I'll be checking into a couple web sites once in awhile at colleges or library computers. (yes this is one of them) LL
