For just one moment in time, let's take a minute to ponder the fact that Richard and Leslie both deserve our respect. The respect to allow them both to live in peace without tearing every aspect of their personal lives apart. This is just one individual's opinion; albeit, it is out of what I call respect. My best to both Richard and Leslie.

I guess that makes me seem a little weird, but coming from a home with a lot of disfunction, I latched onto Mr. Bach's books as a phillosophical guide through some tough times.
When I read that Richard and Leslie divorced, I was crushed. Honestly, to me it was like finding out that my parensts were not only divorced, but my father was marrying someone I didn't even know. (I found out by reading on the homepage that he had re-married).
I put what I had read of their relationship on a pedistal and used it as a model of what a marriage should be like. When it didn't last, I truly thought all marriage was doomed to fail. I felt like I had been betrayed by the Bach's. A few years have gone by, and I realize now that it wasn't Richard or Leslie that betrayed me, it was my idea of marriage that was betrayed.
I am married now, and it may be that the relationship will end, but it's not about forcing it to work in spite of the unhappiness of the parties involved. It's about learning what we can about life and love from eachother. It we find that we can learn no more from eachother and would be happier apart, it's not as much a tragedy as I once thought.
My point being, it is not our place to judge Richard or Leslie for growing beyond the constraints of their marriage. Yes it hurts, because we all fell in love with them as a couple; but they are real people, not just fictional characters. Their lives go on. Nothing lasts forever, not even the bridge.
