I am working on a manuscript but it is non-fiction. Again as usual pushed into finally starting by my love. She wouldn't have it any other way. One and One IS ONE, as I was recently retold by a friend. This is a short piece of inspiration by flying: Once long ago and far away, O.K., Not so long ago and not so far away, only 20 miles away, an old airplane sat tied down on a mowed strip of alfalfa . It was really old but not tired and not wore out. It's master was tho'. The plane's master had learned to fly and had fallen in love with the sky in much the same manner as other men had been seduced by the sea. This person was a land-locked midwesterner and was as pragmatic as most people from that locale are . However he had a spark of independence and of 'don't give a shit' .When his brothers staked a claim on the family land he knew that he was meant for more. He went west, to learn to fly, for no other reason than the memory of a Jenny barnstorming his hometown and the thrill he felt when the crop dusters had shown that flying was more than low and slow. From Ryans and San Diego to the Essex and Hellcats he knew that he was hot stuff. But age is more cruel to people than airplanes . Machines can almost always be fixed but people become worn out. When the spirit gets broken it is often beyond fixing. Cynicism sets in and the next generation is jet propelled. Pace of living accelerated past the prop . Never mind the grace of a J-3 Cub flown slower than most people drive to work. Don't remember the thrill of the tail-slide , or the hammer-head stall. Through all these years the airplane waited the same as ever, the question never answered . When will it fly again? The wheels sank ever deeper in the sod. The control cable slackened and the sky waited to welcome the return of it's brother. The Airplane had been designed to be part of the sky. The sky dictated everything about how the airplane had been built. The sky remained the same , but a little dirtier than when the airplane had been new. All of nature knows patience. The sky knew it would still be ready when the plane broke free again!

Having recently discovered this forum several days ago, it is nice to find this thread. Yes ... & in fact have finished my first book 9 months ago here now. It begins like this ...

"Fire Works"
by White Sage
~ To the True Human Beings & the Guardians who watch over them … ~
Intro
Here now it is some 25 years since committing to writing a book one day. This decision occurred in 1978 shortly after reading “Illusions” by Richard Bach for the first time. Have purchased some 35 to 40 additional copies of that lovely little book since that time, always giving it away after studying it once again. This is one of those times … only exception being that my current copy will be kept, having come to me in a beautiful way: a soft-bound duplicate just as my first one had been, found in a box of given away books that this artist was given “first dibs“ on. Fitting to receive back a book that had been given away with love so many times.
Have just completed reading “Illusions” to my best friend, Jo, over the course of the last several weeks. Being the first time ever voicing aloud the intriguing pages of this small work of art, we would find the time for another chapter or two here & there. Time would fall away to find us spinning off into a realm of underlying awareness of many things that we already knew & that needed to be brought back once again towards the center of our hearts. The epilogue of the book was reached last evening (her first experience with it) & while pondering its scope of ideas as well as its love it was finally time to put my fingers to these keys & begin sharing. ...

My true story is illustrated by my own references with one exception: as a USAF sergeant in 1975 working in SR-71 physiological support, my little $15 Kodak Instamatic camera was taken aboard by Major Noel Widefield, Reconnaissance Systems Officer, & upon landing back at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan he threw me back the camera with a smile while straightening up as much as he could in his space suit, saying
"There you go, Walker. Over 80,000 feet @ mach 3+."
"How much over 80,000 feet?", asked with a smile & Spock-raised eyebrow.
He merely grinned at me hugely, walked into the Clark transport & waited to be driven back to the shop. One of the photographs at altitude from Major Sullivan & Major Widefield's flight that day is in the book.
"Fire Works" is in memoir form, stream-of consciousness, not yet professionally proofread while waiting for the timing to be right. Today is the right time, as the manuscript was submitted to Diane/Frank at Hampton Roads Publishing, NYC.
My work is of 10 days experienced in June, 2003 while following my heart to Pine Ridge nation in South Dakota & concludes in my apartment back in western Nebraska. Am willing to share a few excerpts upon request, if there be any interest.
Thank you for your time ...
~Dwayne~
Edit- To correct a small inaccuracy ... i.e.- the publisher's name.[/i]

I would like to write a book. I've always written a lot, especially in my teens when everything was so confusing. However, my problem seems to be that I have loads of ideas - but small ones. Just small thoughts drifting by, and I'm too impulsive to really nail them down and broaden the story from there. All the intriguing questions I get I partially work on, but none of them widens up to be a whole book. So in a way, my little thought-babies remain babies. I guess I should just sit down in front of the computer, not think about the Project Of Writing A Book and just let the thoughts fly...

Since I realised that language lets us down, in it's broadest sense, I feel that we are doomed. Love too, is a language. When mind speaks back to you that language lets us down...it is communicating through a language, images and visions are language and they are helping all of us to grow, to understand more...

Good day. A quote from my self on a post above this one: "Am willing to share a few excerpts upon request, if there be any interest." Here now: as my prospective publisher has 2 days ago requested my full manuscript after reading my excerpts & chapter, outline & synopsis from "Fire Works", this artist hereby retracts his prior offer to share any more excerpts. Many thanks to those expressing interest recently. Warmly, ~Dwayne~

Hello, everyone. My sister and I wrote a book in 2000 called Be the Magnet! We geared it mostly to young teens and college students, making a hip, witty book that focused on philosophy to inspire young adults to go for their dreams. Currently, we are reworking that book to focus more heavily on the ideas and principles but still keeping it "hip" and funny, too. For the updated version, we are shopping for a publisher and agent. If anyone is interested (don't make me beg, lol), you can still buy our book or learn more about it at TheMaams.com. We write under the pen name "The Maams" because that's a nickname we've used for each other for years. Keep in mind our book is quite whimsical, but we take the main ideas seriously. I don't want to sound like an ad, so I'll shut up about it for now! LOL! We contacted two of Richard's sons in the past about it and they promised to read it. Not sure if they ever got the chance or not. Hope so! We've been fans of Richard's for years. I bought Jonathan Livingston Seagull after someone I admire said it was one of his faves. I never got around to reading it until I was going through a difficult period in my life, trying to find some answers. It really touched me, but it was Illusions that I was really impressed with. That book is brilliant. I really love Bridge Across Forever, too. So anyway, back to the main question of this topic, I have also written a novel, and I'm looking for an agent at the moment. I've been working on a second novel too. I love writing! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to say hello. Peace, love, & groovy vibes! Michelle
