I think I'm going to start reading "Heroes of History," by Will Durant. I was cutely shielded from a lot of ideas growing up. Since many of you here in this forum seem to have read a lot of Richard's stuff, and "Heroes of History" looks really interesting to me now too, I was thinking it'd be fun to discuss them both here. I don't know when I'll be done with it, though. Today I was trying to figure out all my small business tax stuff. And the house is getting messy again. But I'll do my best -- maybe chapter-by-chapter discussion would be the way to go.

"I was most struck by the handwritten river creature story at the beginning of Illusions. I was left wondering what happens to all the battered and bruised creatures who end up floating along with the current one way or another -- if any two or more of them ever find along the river's edge a little bank with a pool warmed by sunlight, where the crystal current is still felt and remembered and anticipated, and where they can play without caring much about whether masked raccoons try to make them dinner in the night. And where they can lean over the slight pool edge and see some of their fellow creatures peeking at the pool and squeak, "Hey, it's great here! Join us, if you want! It's right in front of you!"
Having taken 4 days in spiritually digesting your words, a good way of my adopted culture, am thinking how nice those words would be in the forward of a possible sequel to Illusions.

Yes, I think those words could be put to good use that way. Anyone here is perfectly free to use them for that purpose, although I think it'd get old pretty fast if everyone did.
I might use them in my own little book someday. I've always enjoyed writing, so why would I stop now? But honestly, I'm not sure at all what's interesting and fun anymore, or how things could be even more interesting and fun. And I have a feeling that discussions in this forum about Will Durant's "Heroes of History," and how it relates to Richard Bach's books, would help me with this. Does anyone here want to do this with me? Anyone at all? The more the merrier (within reason), I say.

Thank you so much, Richard, for the recent appearance of the little (read, BIG) Messiah's Handbook! It came at the perfect time for me, and brought me back to a freshness and excitement about my life that some dillusionment about a charletan guru had taken away. Love it! As I loved "Jonathan" and "Illusions". Something so magical and mysterious and uncontainable about all of your work. What is it about pilots?! Another favorite author of mine is Antoine de Saint-Exupery, who wrote The Little Prince, amongst many other titles. Deep wisom there too. Each day, I take the little Messiah's Handbook in my hands and meditate for a few minutes, and if a question asserts itself, I open a page at random and get some VERY interesting answers. Sometimes I don't know what the question is, but the answer is there somehow, nevertheless! Thank you! Shelagh

Indeed, Shelagh: Welcome! Yes, Messiah's Handbook has been the best seller of Hampton Roads Publishing for some time here now ... which is saying a lot, considering the incredible & numerous offerings from them. While only referrencing it 7 times now since its acquisition, it has been wonderful in the answers given ... though what this artist is really seeking is the answer to a question of mine which essentially slaps me in my face. That will be the one to pay close attention to, am strongly suspecting. ~Dwayne~

Aggie asks: "... every time that I feel sad or missing something o(r) somebody reading Richard's books help me a lot, now they are not self help books but why do they work so good in those moments?"An excellent question! My feeling: it is because Richard is magic[/i] in that he is able to subtley convey the message that we are not alone by the mastery of caring about other friends he's not met yet. ... & Aggie also asks: "Is that we never learn enough about everything? is that he shows us a better world? or we just love to think that the life is a beautiful adventure to live?"Yes Yes ( better ---> another, i.e.-[/i]" is that he shows us another world") Yes (without the "just" & the "the", i.e.- "... or we love to think that life is a beautiful adventure to live") ... & more: He imparts hope of overall spiritual justice in the Universe[/b] ... & likely much more to many more ... ~Dwayne~

Yes, I'm in touch with her, she was for me someone like friend-soulmate, but as it happened whit R and Leslie, so it happened with us... I hold her in high esteem, and i think(i'm sure) that she feels the same... Just now we are walking on different paths...
