Has there been any further info about this project? Last I heard, Chris Reeves was slated to direct, nothing since then.

I must admit that I am most excited about the possibility of an upcoming movie based on "Illusions" by Richard Bach. This book is probably my favorite ever! I'm sorry I can't give any more helpful information about it though. If I do I will post it on this forum. ;D

At the seminar in Denver, Richard said the movie was being made by the production company that did the movie, What Dreams may Come with Robin Williams. Richard said the movie was in pre-production.

Movie News Digital Domain sees ILLUSIONSCompany partners on movie based on Richard Bach book -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dateline: Tuesday, August 10, 2004 By: PATRICK SAURIOL Source: Variety Special effects film Digital Domain continues its run on optioning properties to be developed into its own productions. The company's latest acquisition has been the film rights to Richard Bach's novel ILLUSIONS: THE ADVENTURES OF A RELUCTANT MESSIAH and French filmmaker Yann Samuell is attached to direct the picture. Digital Domain will produce the film in partnership with Barnet Bain Films, the same company that they're involved with in their movie version of Dan Simmons' ILLUM. Bach's books are mixtures of self-help philosophy woven together with fantastic elements and usually the author included as one of the main characters in each adventure. For example, ILLUSIONS is about an encounter with a amateur pilot (Bach) and a stranger named Donald Shimoda who claims to be a messiah. As the two journey together, Shimoda dispenses advice to Bach on how he too can become a messiah by creating order from a chaotic life. www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp?aff_id=0&this_cat=Movies&action=page&type_id=270285&cat_id=0&obj_id=42306

I'm quite curious about what it will turn out to be like. Illusions is so much about imagination, subjective, reader's imagination. I think everyone who read Illusions has a very strong image of how thinks should appear. And probably very high expectations, as well. I only hope that the production team can meet those demands... A bit like Lord of the Rings, I suppose.

I tried posting this thought twice it seems with no luck, I'll try once more...
If I where making Illusions the film I would cast Mathew McConaughey as Richard Val Kilmer as Donald Music by Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman (all acoustic) Steve could represent Richard Rick could represent Donald the opening sequence would be the creatures that live on the bottom of the stream that section is animated by Pixar as the closing credits roll it would be cool to see some of the scenes from the film played over like a blooper reel, only in place of Richard, each blooper has a different enlightened being, but it's the same Donald the obvious ones of course, but toss in a couple funny ones as well such as Salvador Dali, Harpo Marx, "Carl" from Sling Blade...

If it was up to me, I would cast Ethan Hawke as Richard. As for Donald's role, it's a tough one... I'd have to go with your suggestion Obkenob, Val Kilmer seems to be a good choice for that. Music should be done by my friends, Thomas Mester (singer/songwriter) and Stuart Brawley (music engineer/mixer of soundtracks for Chicago, Fifth Element, A Price Above Rubies etc.). They are more than familiar with Richard's works.

how funny, now I seem to think Val Kilmer would be a good Donald, too! Except for his hair.. he'd have to dye it jet black. Edina, Ethan Hawke would be an okay Richard Bach, but somehow I get the feeling he's a tiny bit too serious. How about Ethan Hawke in a super-jovial mood?

The Cast of Illusions of course would be stumbled upon, famous or not. The Director (Yann Samuell) feels as though he was meant to make this film ever since he first read the book when he was 9. The Actors , I believe will have felt the same way. Personally I am one of those.
