Now you have me checking this site every few days. I had never been ininvolved with a discussion board before and thought that I was was talking with Brian and therefore placed his name at the top of the page instead of my own. My name is actually Cheryl who knew Richard from Renton, WA. I will figure out this eventually. I am curious if Richard every reads the information posted on this site. Does anyone have any opinion on this matter?

Hi Cheryl,
Welcome. I think that question needs to be answered by our moderator, Edina. She is here almost all of the time.
Personally, I have suspected that he has been here interacting, but I cannot verify that.
Sincerely,
Lizanne333

I would love to inspire this thread. Can anybody tell any good Richard stories? Anything where you have become "Richardish" in your behavior. How has he stayed w/you as a friend and companion in a practical way? Would love to hear yours , then I'll tell some..... richardish

I have become Richardish in many ways. I found his books when I was around 16. I began with The Bridge across forever, and it changed my life. I found a deep resonance with it, something I knew I had within me but could not put into words. When I read his books almost everything was a recollection of an intuitively known fact, just as Shimoda meant when he said that we just have to be reminded of the universal truths we already know.
I have always had a longing for flying. As a child I pretended I was a bird, I dreamed flying-dreams and looked at airplanes. I was never into the whole mechanics thing about planes, just the sheer joy of flying. I intend to get a license some day in the near future, and I think I will go for sail planes because of their quietness. I don't think loud engines are anything for me.
My way of thinking, dealing with people and understanding the world is much in line with Richard Bach's way of thinking. I guess it's because I was a teenager when I found his books, in the age when one is most influenced by experiences. I wonder what I'd be like if I found his works at the age of 35?
I do not agree with some things Mr Bach has done or thought. I think it's just good to have my own perspective of the highest Is. Otherwise I would not be an individual with a working creativity, but a student following a guru. My teacher in high school used to say "If you don't have an opinion about everything, you're dead". I'd like to remember that, and I love to feel the same joy of discovery when I realize something myself, as I have when I read Bach's books.
I'm not sure whether this answered your question, though... ;D

Here is what I was wondering.
When one reads a Book one has the whole Story begining to end, of that particular Story. So you know how it turns out in the End.
So when things are really Bleak for "Our Hero" so to speak, we want to tell him as we read " stay cool, I know how it all turns out it's going to be great"
What I'm asking for in this thread " How has Richard "Changed You Life", is
Have you ever given your Life Story over to your Readers and said " I know you're reading this and I know it all turns out Great.
Has Richard ever helped you to remember to Trust the Story. This is hard core and not for the faint of Heart. Have you ever practically incouraged the good side of a problem with honesty and fortitude and had a miracle type outcome?

It's been almost 30 years since I met Richard. He had taken up skydiving and made a few jumps at Riverview in Florida. I followed him out of a Cessna 182 on a 30 second freefall and he later was pretty excited because it was the first time he had seen another jumper while falling. I was proud to have him pin on my diamond wings for having completed 2000 jumps. Unfortunately, the film of that event was lost at the processors. I was thinking of him this morning when I ran across a 1944 issue of Flight Magazine (a Royal Aero Club publication). Contained inside was an advertisement for a DeHavilland Rapide biplane. Richard owned one and I was fortunate to get a chance to jump from it at an airshow. I even have a photo of my oldest daughter (now 31) sitting on the wing in her diapers. Richard, if you read this forum I just wanted to say hi. Pat Moore WFLA-TV (Channel 8) morning meteorologist Tampa 1973-76

I think some of the stuff that happened to me around the time my husband left was like having a someone I was becoming come to me and tell me to just breathe...and trust...and follow my instincts despite all the well meant advice of people who cared very much for me. I think allowing messages to come to me through "non traditional" mediums...might have been like learning from a Shimoda... Certainly the passage from One about the Pagites...and the one were he was trapped into a world where Leslie had died (I think that was how it went, and not the other way around) have lived in me in times when I wanted to control the outcome, and yet knew control wasn't mine to have... I don't know...is this the kind of stuff you meant? If it isn't, I thank you anyway, as it has opened a new window in my mind about the stories I tell myself about my being.
