I think that he simply means that the story represents his "beliefs" or at least what he would like to believe. There may be "truths" here, but beliefs are not concrete, and therefore not verifiable in a material world. Therefore, all of these ideas could in fact be wrong.

It means that anything written in the book may be wrong.
It is a very wise statement in my opinion. It's good to remind ourselves that when dealing with words and thoughts and concepts, we are in fact dealing with tiny perspectives based on our very limited and distorted perceptions; we are not dealing with the truth.
I believe that a lot of pain and suffering are being caused by taking our thoughts and beliefs too seriously, by taking them as the truth and failing to recognize their incredibly limited nature when it comes to representing reality.
People seem so caught up in their beliefs about God and Love and EVERYTHING... so preoccupied with those things that they fail to concentrate on what actually matters - the experience of them... words are totally and completely useless and meaningless when they are not based on experience. Two people may argue that God is this or that, when neither of them has actually had any experiences to support their beliefs, only hollow words and beliefs. They were simply taught some concepts about God. But of what use are those concepts? The function of words is to point us to some part of reality, of our experience, but it seems that most often people just get caught up in them, and forget almost completely about reality.
Everyone is talking about God, and what he/she/it is like... but how many of these people have had any expereinces of the divine?
Anyway...

book: illusions i am utterly confused by the last quote in the book "everything in this book may be wrong." could someone help me out and explain? thanks, joe Hi Joe, In each lifetime, we have several roads to choose from. One could be through this book. Other ways to be aware of your-self could be through Religions(like Budhism), through philosphy, by being Yogi or meditator, by revisiting this planet again and again and experiencing or by your own part of universal mind. The roads are many, the debates could be infinite, but the journey is same. All of us who are together here, have full right to choose a road, or to change a road anytime. Make any road your favorite or reject any, its your choice. Now to answer "everything in this book could be wrong.." has a meaning 1) We should not stick to one sense of Belief.. Because if you create a belief(even through this book),then it would be no more than illusion you already are in. After teaching you the basics.. the book says.. Don't follow me. Because the whole essence of this book is "listen to yourself".. and this "yourself" could be wrong or right everytime..so "learn to know this(notice)" And if you do this for long you'd later know, that anything which is real, is not neccesarily true. "everything in this book could be wrong" hints.. that in This REALITY.. we can reject this theory(for us) ..if we want But To the Truth(if the book was a person), it doesn't matter.
[/font] 2) It was purposely said so that you can begin your journey with your first lesson head on "The Fear"(The fear of unusual ending where there is a contradiciton) When we have nothing to hold on to, we start to think. Grave (let your mind blabber and you'l know it makes sense)

Hit the nail on the head there Grave! I'd just like to add.....take everything that you read, hear, experience, think, e.t.c.....sift through it all, kinda like that old sifter mom used when she made bread, and keep what fits for you. What fits for you may not fit for me. One of our jobs/lessons on this plane is not to take everything for granted. Learn for yourself. What all the great minds and not so great minds....hmmmm, scratch that last part, all minds are great, it's just different perceptions.......anyway, that is how we are designed. Every person is different and each mind works in a different way. Like finger prints, no one mind is exactly alike! I like the old saying, "Show me"......there are times when I just take for granted what someone says, because it sounds true or mainly because I am just to lazy to bothered with finding out for myself at the time.....however, all those times are sent to a special folder in my mind labeled "Work on this" and I let my sub-concsious (sp?) go to work and filter to come up with the Truth....FOR ME. Now this is important, because your Truth is different than My Truth. Use everything you read and hear as a road map. Like taking a trip across the country. You read a map, plot a course and take off. What the map doesn't show you are the road blocks, detours e.t.c. that another traveler might not hit, or the stops you might make. Like a map, all those philosopies and beliefs and Truths shared can a pretty good path be plotted from, however, also like a map, if you don't actual take the trip, do the learning if you will, you will never know what is actually there for YOU to see and experience. The road on the map is there, just like the words in the book, but the markings on the map may not necessarily be true FOR YOU until you are actually on the journey. Changes could have been made unbeknownst to you until you actually find out for yourself. As Grave explained, "dont follow me" Be an individual, our paths may be the same for a time, but do not be afraid to veer off into the "unknown". We were designed to be individuals, be an individual. I have been a part of raising sheep at a point in my life, and after having done so, and then observing humanity in general, I fully understand why Jesus chose to use the analogy of sheep for humans! Just as humans are the large part of the time, sheep will just follow blindly along without a thought for individualism. Even to the extreme of a whole flock going over a thousand foot cliff. Don't be a sheep. Okay, I'll shut up. I really don't even know if what I just said makes sense or if it's all gobbledygook, but I do know one thing, sometimes I lead, sometimes I follow, most times I walk alone through the wilderness. For I follow MY TRUTHS as I understand them. Everything ever said or written for me is a map, but I still have to plot my own course. There are many paths to our destiny, and they are PERSONAL paths. Hope I didn't confuse you more! *grin* JT

Hope I didn't confuse you more! *grin* JT Thanks JT(The 400) You maight have tried your best to confuse, but didn't , It makes so much sense atleast to me. And thanks for the Bread Example. -------------------- " Now this is important, because your Truth is different than My Truth." Just a question JT: Did you mean "...Your (Reality)Truth is different than My Reality(Truth)-i.e. the beliefs we make up and see as Truths, OR, Do you talk about the higher Truths being different?(But Our Universal Truth is ONE, isn't it?-what I thought) Grave(eager to know)

I'd like to give some thoughts on this subject, too. Do we have different higher truths if we have different realities? No, I don't think so. I think our realities are subjective and we have the power to alter our own reality. Yet the truth which lies beyond is like reality unmasked. It's a bit like having a coated cookie: no matter whether the coating is chocolate or coffee, the cookie inside stays the same.
Now if only I was able to always have a chocolate-coated cookie in front of me.... ;D

the last passage in the book is to let you know that it might not be right for you and that it might be completely wrong

Hey Ya'll........sorry I didn't reply to your question there Grave! I had forgotten to check the notify box thingy at the bottom and then promptly forgot that this is one that I had posted on! (I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed to my shoulders!) So in reply to your question.......exactly right. By saying "your Truth" and "my Truth" I was in fact refering to your or my 'reality'. As you and Bluebird both pointed out, Higher Truth or Universal Truth is above and beyond. My personal Truth is in fact my Reality of what I know, experience, live e.t.c.....
