hey, I just wanted to add my little experience. I had gotten away from an abusive marriage, had fallen in love and then utterly destroyed. It was all I could do to remember to breathe. Then I just kind of ran into this man who took my mind offf of all that for a while. He had one of Bach's books laying around and it had a Cummings quote in the beginning (still can't figure out which one that was). I was going to read that one but he corrected me by saying that if I'm going to start reading Bach, it will have to begin with Illusions. It changed my life. It was like I had been looking at life as if it was this vast chaotic string of events. Illusions turned on the music and I saw it as a complicated ballet instead. Since then I have strived to own every book by Bach. I place them alongside my other truth teacher, E. E. Cummings.

I read the first book of Richard Bach is Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
Jonathan always empowers me alot when I do somethings different to norms. When I'm going to do somethings which other think it's impossible and stupid, I will think of Jonathan.
It makes me create a lot of opportunties in my life, although sometimes I fail to accomplish. But i'm not afraid failure, just keep on trying in other ways!
By the way, this is my first time to post message in this forum. I'm glad to find this forum!!! I really really appreciate the founder of this forum!!!!

Klun says: Hello Klun and Thank-you for reminding me to say Thanks for this forum's founder and moderators. Sometimes I forget these things. How is Hong Kong? Look forward to hearing about your Jonathan Seagull experience! It too, had a tremendous effect on me, all three, the record, (Richard Harris?), the book and the movie too! Welcome..... Lizanne

Hi Klun! It is 10:50 pm here in Oregon! What time is it there? Morning? Lizanne Hi Lizanne, it's 12:23am Friday in Hong Kong share one of my Jonathan experience.... I graduated from university last year, majoring Accountancy. If I chose a "right" way, worked in audit field, I would be assured to have stable and attractive income. But I didn't chose the "right" road, coz I'm really no interest in that field. Most of my friends disagree me on working in other fields. In Hong Kong, most people think "graudate should work in the field which is his/her major" They regarded me as strange guy. Finally, I just followed my own decision and got a job in a Food Mart as a manager Trainee. Actually, it was a long story, i cant describe competely. By the way, now some of my friends are hate the audit job, but still keep on working........Becoz of safety and $.... and I'm still chasing my dream.....

Hi Klun!
Sir, as long as you can keep the roof of sorts over your head, let them eat their money.
The true gold on the planet is that which gives life, starting with each of us individually and enmasse recognizing that the Planet=Solid Gold=and I will take life anyday!
How did we ever come to covet such a thing as a piece of paper or a large number, or any of those things?
A running creek, a bird pulling a worm out of rich soil, plucking a wild berry and partaking therof.
What else is there?

I loved Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and it was the first of Richard's books that I read...I have two copies of it on tape and the movie as well. I also love the way Richard and Richard and Leslie read the books...I own most in both paper and on tape, and even my kids have been exposed to Richard's work, as we have travelled.
There is little I can add to this thread involving the books that so many have written of..."Illusions", "Running from Safety", "Bridge Across Forever", "One"...
One book that didn't show up on search, that I loved is the picture book...."No Such Place as Far Away". The simplicity with which he wrote the concepts and the art work that accompanied them...were amazing.
